This large, textured, acrylic painting captures the beauty of jellyfish dancing through the ocean while also subtly highlighting a darker issue. While there is sand beneath the paint on the lower portion of the artwork, there is also recycled plastic, adding texture underneath the painted jellyfish, and it probably symbolizes a lot more than one might casually realize while just looking at the painting. In the wild animals like turtles often ingest discarded plastic bags mistaking them for jellyfish and plastic is becoming more and more of a threat to ocean life every day, so I wanted to create a painting that focused on the beauty of the ocean, while also reminding people to protect it.
The piece is done on a recycled canvas and is three feet tall by four feet wide.
